Gala Bingo, one of the UK's biggest and best loved bingo operators, launched a new advertising campaign called Bingo Like a Boss.
The campaigns are fronted by a new leading lady, Gloria, who is described as ‘a gloriously sassy woman who slays life whilst casually playing bingo'.
In the first of four ads, Gloria is played by Paisley Billings from the TV show, Tattoo Fixers. Her character is seen playing online bingo on her phone whilst simultaneously playing an electric guitar solo with her feet.
The first ad called ‘toe jam' and the other three ads will run from 24th February to 16th March and will run in conjunction along with the continued sponsorship of ITV's The Chase and Channel 5's iconic Aussie soaps, Neighbours and Home and Away. The ads will display Gloria's ‘boss-like' adventures both in the UK and in Australia.
The new campaign will be overseen by the advertising agency Antidote who Gala Bingo switched to at the start of February. The advertising account believed to be worth £13 million, saw Gala Bingo ditch Cravens who had been managing the advertising accounts of Gala Spins and Gala Bingo both of which owned by parent company GVC Holdings (LON:GVC), for seven years previously.
In a press statement, Gala Bingo said:

This is just one facet of Gala Bingo's rebrand which includes an updated logo and tone of voice, a cleaner, refreshed look and colour palette, and a new approach to digital.
The commercials and digital content were directed by Los Angeles based comedy director duo Fatal Farm and are designed to encourage watchers to ‘bingo like a boss' whilst outrageously living life to the full.
Karina Adrian, Head of Brand Marketing at Gala Bingo, said,
Paisley Billings Gala Bingo
'We wanted to mix up the category and refresh our brand. We are a brand with significant heritage and branding that has stood us in good stead, however the time felt right to revamp and refresh, bringing us in to the roaring 20's and with Gloria's help, this truly integrated campaign certainly does that. We want to show a younger audience how fun and exhilarating the game can be, showing there is something for everyone. We're really excited to unleash Gloria on the nation and bring the sass to bingo!'

Gala Bingo have not only unveiled a brand new look but they've also released a new TV advert too. Their new campaign has a rockier and grittier feel to the past Galalala adverts. It features Paisley Billings who is more well known as the receptionist on Tattoo Fixers. To celebrate all this new badass attitude Gala Bingo are giving players the chance to win a holiday to South Africa too. Are you ready to Bingo Like A Boss?
The TV advert above starts off showing Paisley - as Gloria - playing Gala Bingo on her mobile phone. We then see that in fact she's in her living room playing a pink electric guitar with her feet. Huge amps can be seen on either side of the room whilst a cute dog looks on. Paisley is joined by a guy and together with the dog they all rock out to an increasingly heavier soundtrack. Fireworks complete the advert! Just in case you're thinking Gala have done away with Galalala there's a rockier version of the track right at the end.
Sassy Bingo
Paisley might be a surprising choice for a bingo brand but there's no doubt that she brings a high level of sass to the space. It'll be interesting to see whether this advert is a one off. She can also be seen on the new look website. The main change - at least in our view - is an updated logo as it looks a lot simpler than it's previous incarnation. However the familiar Gala yellow and blue are still evident and overall we like the look of the site. It remains colourful and attractive but noticeably has reduced any potential for placement of child friendly images.
When we first heard of Gala Bingo's revamp we did wonder whether this would mean them following Foxy and Coral onto the old Cozy Games platform. Thankfully that's not the case - at least not yet - but the look and feel of Gala Bingo suggests that a new platform could easily slot into the design. With this new Bingo Like A Boss campaign we suspect that it's unlikely that Gala will change platform in the next 12 months. As 'Gala Bingo is the Boss' it'd be a strange decision to move to a platform that's not quite as good as Virtue Fusion!
